I'm actually working on this show review for ACRN.COM as I'm doing this lawlz. Hopefully doing a quick, unprofessional version for this board will help me get out of my writer's block.

THE LIFE AND TIMES - We (Me, Adam, Matt, and my friend Jill) got there and ate the dins when this band played. Apparently they're from Kansas too and apparently the crowd dug them. Guess I'll check them out later.

KEVIN DEVINE AND THE GODDAMN BAND - Seriously, this dude is an ACRN.com staple and he would play shows in Athens what seems like 3 times a school year. I always forget how big this dude is, he always does shows with Brand New and did acoustic shows with Jesse Lacey and Owen. This is his first in a long time playing a show with the full band (The Goddamn Band), and I must say, his songs sound so much sweeter when they're amped up with a wall of sounds and constant floor stomps. I guess he's a hit or miss with people but I personally love his range of vocals and more than mediocre songs that have a more rockier sound than your run-on-the-mill acoustic act. Played "Brooklyn Boy" "Just Stay" and this one song that has a title I keep on forgetting. I was satisfied. It was obvious that people were there for TGUK because you'd hear mumbles during the more quiet songs.

THE GET UP KIDS - The set started off so well when Prince's "1999" blared through the PA, to which I proceeded to get my groove on. They did a lot of weird things like this throughout the 1 hour 40 minute set, and I keep on thinking Reggie and the Full Effect would do an impromptu set of one or two songs in the middle - but that never happened. Anyways, the members poured onto the stage and immediately went into "Holiday". The crowd was surprisingly chill, except for the Columbus punks who attended the show and was like me, yelling my heart out while jumping and shaking a fist. Apparently if you go to a lot of 'indie' shows, it's not cool to go crazy like that at shows, just stand and not and perhaps softly sing to yourself. Well that's not the time for that bullcrap. TGUK did a great job balancing old and new songs. They played quite a few songs from Four Minute Mile ("Come Clean", "Don't Hate Me" "No Love") all to Guilt show, and I think that allowed EVERYONE in the audience to equally enjoy their fair share of favorite TGUK hits. I went insane when they played their Cure cover of "Close to Me", because it's 10x better than the original song, which I love anyways. They ended their set with "10 Minutes" and that officially made my weekend. You can tell the members of the band were really into performing that night, so I guess things between members are on good terms... for now.

whew, I'll post the more polished review once it's published.

change the between members to "among members". Sorry, grammar police in me went nuts reading over that...

Oh yeah, they played 2 new songs that I guess will be on an upcoming 7".

The Life And Times - I was eating a really good sandwich.

Kevin Devin - Not my thing.

The Get Up Kids - Hell yeah. They played "Woodson", "Off The Wagon", "Coming Clean", "Don't Hate Me", "No Love", but no SHORTY! What?! Besides that unforgivable mistake, the set was awesome. I've been wanting to see this band for like 9 years so I'm glad I can finally mark them off the list.

Life and Times - My sandwich and milkshake were delicious.

Kevin Devine - Eh, he seemed really average and predictable to me. I did like one of his songs though, and his lead guitarist was really good.

Get Up Kids - My second favorite band. It was awesome. They played a ton of my favorites, and they were having fun up there goofing off during some songs. Their drummer is fun to watch and really good, especially live. I'm with Matt on the "Not playing Shorty is a sin" bandwagon, but other than that I can't complain. I finally got to see them, so I'm way happy.
