HEY, rec me some bands

what are some good hardcore bands for people who dont usually listen to hardcore? i dont have any tabs, but im tryin to open my mind anyway. basically, what are the essentials?

i would venture to say that if you don't usually listen to hardcore, the essentials are probably not where you are going to want to start. sort of knowing parts of what you normally listen to, check out the album "deep in the shallow end" by gray ghost. it's probably not what you think of when you think of hardcore but they consider themselves a hardcore band so i guess they are haha.

Mammoth Grinder - Newest release is a good mix of old school death metal & hardcore, and the earlier stuff is just heavy as fuck metal influenced hardcore

definitely not true! true,i am only into a handful of their CURRENT bands but they've released shit by panic, the trouble, carry on, american nightmare/give up the ghost, no warning etc etc. BUT, most importantly...THINK I CARE!

do you like black flag? what about bad brains, or adolescents? holy shit, talk about essential, there are a lot more, but i would definitely start here. eric if you've never heard badbrains yr really in for a treat.

No Warning - "Ill Blood" is the absolute PERFECT example (IMO) of a real "hardcore" record. Listen to that.

Cro-Mags - "Age of Quarrel" despite an early hardcore record, it's surprisingly really accessible.

Madball - "Hold It Down" I think this album is where Madball really started to sound like Madball. Straight up hardcore.

Carry On - "A Life Less Plagued" if you're looking for something faster, not as heavy. Great fast straight edge angry stuff.

Those are just a few random great albums that are all really accessible.
