So I have this idea for local bands

Why don't we get our shit together and put out a local band cover comp of like 80's hardcore bands?

I'll work out the shit, and I could probably get a label to press it if we do all the recording.

I know there are enough of us. Who's in?

Not to be a debbie downer, but are there really enough bands that would do something like this and what label would put down the money to release a bunch of WV bands doing covers?

I've got an ass ton of contacts, even if we do it as a cd-r release it'd still be a cool idea, especially for the bands that tour to take out to help hype up the locals that don't get the credit that they deserve. Even if this falls through, I'd still like to get a track from locals to put on a cd-r to hand out to people that buy our record while we're on tour. While I'm out 99 times out of 100 people are dumbfounded when we tell them that we are from West Virginia. I'd like to start to change that.

i had an idea for something like this once when i used to book alot of shows in my area the big problem with it is for every 5-6 bands that actually send you a song 10-100 say they will and never do but it is a really good idea to do a comp i also do think it may be better if it was just a song from each band and not a cover i know if i was handed a cd of a bunch of covers i wouldnt judge the band playing the song but but who originally done the song i know its not the right way to do it but i think alot of people would be the same way for example im not a big gorrilla biscuits fan and if never lose heart covered one of thier songs i would say oh i dont realy like the gorrilla biscuits and not really think about its a good band covering it because its still a gorrilla biscuits song in the long run

A comp of the bands doing their own songs would work a lot better.
