Charlie Hustle - Over-the-top bar rock. Holy shit. We gotta step up our bar rock parody game here. These guys were entertaining in the sense that it was a perfect manifestation of everything that I like to make fun of in good ol' rock n roll. They had song titles like "Hit Me With Your Lips" and "She Can't Drive, But She Gets Around." I think their first song was also about driving really fast. Come on!
Heath Deadger - I've listened to these guys a lot on myspace, and it was my first time seeing them. Tons of energy, crowd was super into them, etc. Short yet fun set. The mic and lights kept going out, but hey, what can you do? This is one of the few punk/hardcore bands where I can tolerate the drummer doing cheat beats, because he's really good otherwise, and everything else is solid.
Maryn Jones - Played upstairs, didn't watch because we had to set up.
Enzuigiri - Someone stole an old Landmine shirt while we played! Fuckers!
Nukkehammer - This set was fucking surreal. I think the crowd actually managed to go crazier for them here than at For Real Fest, believe it or not. Also believe it or not, they actually played fairly cleanly compared to other times I've seen them. Their set finally broke the 10 minute mark. One of the Delay dudes got naked and moshed. 20+ people were pounding on the heating ducts in between songs. Matt Miner gave a short speech about how we need to rebuild the Berlin Wall.
Locusta - I feel the same way about this band that I did about Privates near the end of their tenure; I really like the music, but I've seen them so many times that I just don't care anymore. Let's put it this way: I've only listened to a single recorded song by them once, but I basically know their entire set. Whatever. They were still good.
Kurt Russell - Ugh. Really? This was a surprise reunion show. I don't think anyone actually cared. The set had a few highlights though. They did a Bracewar cover, which was hilarious. Ray shouted "Don't play your own songs!" in response, which was even more hilarious. Ray then shut off the basement electricity and ran upstairs. They power came back on a minute later, and they continued playing, so we left.
