video game thread

i just finished new super mario bros and donkey kong: jungle beat for wii. i'm now working on super paper mario. it's my second time playing through it, and it's definitely one of the best games i've ever played. i modded my wii a few months back, but so far i can only get emulators to work. i haven't tried too much to do wii backups yet, but the 2 games i did download didn't work. i probably just need some better dvd-r.

what are you guys playing?

i really liked the ufc game they put out last year, and am excited for the new one tuesday. other than that, i've been playing battlefield bad company and dead rising.

I've been playing the HD version of Turtles in Time a lot lately. Trying to get all the achievements.

Other than that, I just play Modern Warfare 2 and Custom Games on Halo 3.

I haven't been playing many, but I do love the skate series. I'm wanting to get skate 3 and red dead redemption soon.

I got Red Dead Redemption. I'd been looking forward to it a lot, and man, this game rules.

Next planned purchases will be Skate 3 and Arkham Asylum 2.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins today. Pretty killer so far. Plays like Knights of the Old Republic if anyone is into that type of RPG.

The Wii has some quality games. Lots of crap, but tons of great games.

Get the new black Wii, since it comes with Wii Sports Resort as well as Wii Sports. Then get Galaxy 2. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

So let's hi-jack this and talk about how much Red Dead Redemption rules. Holy fuck, it's the only thing that's successfully pulled me away from World of Warcraft in almost two years.

was red dead redemption as movie-like as the first one? wasn't a huge fan. i've currently been jamming through link to the past. can i get an amen for old gen games plz?

I never played the first one, but it's set up just like the newer GTA games, so it's very movie like. I, however, have not found one single thing wrong with the game. I finished the story mode, going for 100% completion.

this is pretty much the only game i've played for like four months.

so this coming year is going to be pretty amazing for games. new donky kong country, new metroid, new zelda... all have me foaming at the mouth. i'm kind of out of the loop on other systems anymore. next month i plan on buying either a ps-3 or another 360, but i can't decide which. i don't give a shit about blu-ray because lol @ paying for movies, and i really like xbox live but from what i hear, the ps-3 online service is really bad. on the other hand, live costs money which is really stupid and not worth it to me, even though i guess they're releasing some really awesome titles exclusively for live itsself. also, i went through 4 fucking xbox 360 units when i had them, and i have yet to hear a bad thing about the ps-3's reliability. i'm torn, guys. what direction should i go in?

Live only costs money if you want to play online. You can still download the XBLA games if you don't pay for the service, just have to pay for the games.
