I haven't announced this officially anywhere yet, but I figured I would let you guys know first, then proceed with Facebook and Myspace.

There's a new venue in Huntington called Fred Jr's Memorial Pool Hall. The guy that runs it is mainly a wrestling promoter, but he's looking to be an all-ages music venue as well. The room is great, around 400 cap. As some of you may know, I've been looking for a place to do shows in Huntington for quite some time.

I've talked with Fred a couple times and we seem like we could work well together. For this reason, the last shows at the current Brickhouse in Nitro will be the ones in April. Many of the May shows will be moved and I will no longer lease The Brickhouse after May.

This allows me to focus on what I'm good at - booking/promoting shows - and leave the details of running a business and venue to someone with the time to devote to it. I'll be moving the Brickhouse PA permanently to Fred's and we will add to it as we get the funds. This also allows me to focus on booking more quality shows rather than be worried with the quantity of shows that I'm booking.

I'm also going to try and keep bringing in better known acts. I'll always book hardcore, but I'm going to focus on things that will make the venue money so that we can establish this and keep it running.

Be looking for Agnostic Front/Alpha and Omega/Mother of Mercy at Fred's in October. You'll be able to hear about shows from all the Brickhouse social networking for quite a while.

Huntington deserves this. More Huntington peeps come to the Brickhouse than Nitro.

Well in Nitro's defense it's population is what? 200?

Also in Nitro's defense, it's got St. Albans and Charleston right there. As well as being a little closer to Parkersburg and Summersville.

Theres been times when The Brickhouse (in St. Albans) did better than Hyamp and shows were going much better there. I think it comes down to kids in an area getting tired of shows. But anyhow, I still think the best move is to get things going in Huntington again.

I couldn't agree more. There were points that small filler shows that I booked in Huntington would go off huge just because of the lack of shows happening in the area. I thnik this is a good move.
