Catie and I were just crazy enough to make the drive up for this.
Fire & Ice - YES!!! So glad I got to see them. They sounded tight, played 4 songs off the 7" and 3 new ones. I moshed hard.
Bracewar - This was what, my 6th or 7th time seeing them? Still burnt out on them, but this actually might have been the best I've ever seen them play. They still play a few old songs. Did mosh. The Richmond kids who came went nuts, of course. I felt like this was a really short set for some reason.
Trapped Under Ice - Oh my dear sweet baby Jesus. Keep in mind, this is TUI in their hometown of Brawltimore, Murderland. Since this show was their video shoot for the song "Believe," they played it 4 times to get plenty of footage of it. First song, second song, 4th or 5th song, last song. The only other songs they played were "See God" (which is my favorite, so that ruled), "Skeleton Heads," and "Reality Unfolds." Of course, the singer of Stout came out and did guest vocals for "Believe" each time. The 3rd and last times they played it THE ENTIRE STOUT CREW came on stage and stomped around. Top 5 most terrifying moments of my life haha. Each time they played it, it was crazier. I thought either Title Fight and UB '09 or Floorpunch back in October was the winner for "most stagedives I've ever seen," but this definitely takes the cake. So much fucking fun, I got in some dives 'n shit so hopefully I'm in the video
Pros:
- Making new friends in Baltimore, including Sam from TUI. I feel like if we go back it won't be nearly as scary now that we have some connections.
- Having a place to stay the night.
- Got a Fire & Ice shirt (AND YES ONE FOR YOU TOO, JACOB).
- Catie and I being the ONLY 2 people to represent the fine state of WV in this music video. Sup.
- I didn't even get injured. It's a Christmas miracle.
- The show was only $2. You can't beat that.
- This whole trip was hilarious for various reasons.
Cons:
- SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW. It took us 11 hours to make the 5 and a half hour drive home. I'm still exhausted.
- Running off the road near Flatwoods and getting stuck in the median. Had to pay $112 for a tow truck to get us out. My bad.
