Defeater 10.25.2009

Misfortunes-I went out of tune after the Danzig song, but after that I thought we played pretty well.
Forced Hand-Nice Cro Mags intro. Good set.

Missed the other bands had to leave work @ 3am.

misfortunes- .

forced hand- good set, really well put together tunes.

enzuigiri- first time hearing them great show really good music i was impresed.

defeater- good of course.

Fun show.

Misfortunes - Gotta be honest here guys, a little rough last night. Some issues with the sound. I couldn't hear guitar very well and I was standing right in front of his amp. During the parts with bass distortion, that was all I could hear, the bass. I will say I thought there were some cool ideas as far as song structures go, but it could have been tighter and more cohesive. Keep it up though. Work on the sound and staying together as far as timing and I think it'd be pretty decent.

Forced Hand - A couple issues at the beginning of the set, but after those blew over, the rest of the set was pretty smooth. Sounded a lot better this time, and I could hear everyone. I ended up watching most of the set from behind Matt while eating garlic bread. Best set yet in my opinion, mainly because of the garlic bread though.

Chris Lynch - I like the songs, but MAN the guitar was out of tune. Fix that and we have a winner. And he should probably memorize the lyrics... but he had been drinking for a while, so I'll let it slide.

Enzuigiri - Pretty sweet. No botches, great songs, performed well. And I could hear both vocals this time. Jack was still quieter, but I could hear him. Boo to no Bomb Puncher, but I do understand not wanting to play the same songs every show.

Defeater - Holy crap. This band ruled. I had checked them out on myspace prior to the show and kind of dug it, but live they were something else. Drummer was SMOOTH and really good. Nice guy too. Anyway, I bought their CD and have been jamming to it in my car. Very cool. Would like to see them again. Justin going to the back every time they'd play something new was hilarious.

Overall, the show was awesome. Should not have gone as well as it did, considering everything that had stacked against it.

But also, I have to say that the PA system we've used at the last couple shows is not cutting it. In order for it to be loud enough, it has to be turned up to where it feeds back constantly, and there's no clarity in anyone's vocals. All you can hear is one giant mess of warbles and fuzziness. I know we have to do things on the cheap at these shows, but seriously. Ugh.

misfortunes - good energy guys, but i have to agree with adam. There were a few rough spots. I had a bit of trouble differentiating the bass from the guitar at times. I couldn't hear the vocals that much either, but, like adam said, we need to get a nice pa for shows. Keep it up though guys, its always awesome seeing new bands around here!

Forced Hand - First time seeing them, I liked the set a lot. Again, it was hard to hear the vocals. Still, I enjoyed it greatly.

chris - good songs, out-of-tune guitar. I was busy setting up so I wasn't really paying attention....i know, i know. I'm an asshole

enzuigiri - i had fun. plus the lighting help hide the hideous beasts that make all that ruckus.

defeater - holy shit! Thank you justin! I loved these guys. It was very refreshing to see a band that doesn't sound like a ton of other bands that have come through here. I thought they sounded great, I could just about hear just about everything besides bass. They write guitar parts that I wish i wrote! Also, the drummer was awesome as hell!

Anyway, good show. Should totally not have been that good with all the changes and whatnot.

Misfortunes: I honestly couldn't hear anything that was going on. I think it was Jacob's bass.

Forced Hand: I could hear everything this time. Needed more To Tha Floor covers.

Enzuigiri: Who booked these clowns?

Defeater: I probably wouldn't listen to them recorded, but that was a damn good set.

misfortunes - couldn't tell what was going on a lot. I stepped outside for a minute to take a piss, and it was easier to distinguish the sounds from outside. it actually sounded pretty good outside. i think maybe just too much distortion.

forced hand - probably shouldn't have tried that cro-mags cover because i didn't know the drum part well enough. it was too dark to see the set list probably should have just memorized it. i need to get in shape because i'm dead after our 10 minute set. i can only make comments for myself because i couldn't tell anything else going on.

enzuigiri - Haven't seen you guys play for a long time. Really freakin good. I especially liked the last song you played. I could hear everything except really well except for the vocals. Sorry for trying to steal your drum equipment. Ol stomp was pretty pissed. Thank god, I got out of there in time.

defeater - i left halfway through. The acoustic song the opened up with was really good. I normally don't listen to this kind of music, but they were really good live at least from the 4 songs that I saw them play. Drummer was really good and played really clean. I wish i was that good. The band seemed like really nice guys too.

misfortunes-i don't know what was going on. i agree with matt about how it sounded better from outside. it was way too noisy and not in the good way. i think everyone needs to dial in their sound a little bit more. the vocals sounded good though and the energy was nice.

forced hand-BEST.BAND.EVER.

enzuigiri-good. they are always good, though.

defeater-really good. sounded really tight and i could hear everything that was going on. plus, they played cowardice.

Misfortunes- not tooting my own horn, but i thought we played well for only being the second show. Mic shorted out, not cool.
but it's whatever.

Forced hand- awesome set, awesome cover(s),good job dudes.

Enzuigiri- firs time seeing you guys, different shit from what im used to hearing but fucking awesome. would love to see/play with again.

Chris Lynch- good stuff, wish you wouldve covered bright eyes, would love to hear again.(you should cover alkaline trio- radio,.. i'd flip)

defeater- 2nd time seeing them, so genuine, so into what they are playing, digging them hard.
